At the heart of social studies education is civic learning and at the heart of civic learning is participation in democratic life. Over the course of U.S. history, Jews have contributed to social change movements, helping to create a more perfect union that expanded the rights and met the needs of members of America's increasingly pluralistic society. Join the Michigan Council for the Social Studies and the Weitzman National Museum of American Jewish History and explore the history of Jewish life in America, focusing on the episodes and exemplars of civic agency. The webinar will highlight resources and pedagogies from Stories That Shaped a Nation: Jewish Life in America, the Weitzman's curriculum designed to help teachers weave these stories into their civics and U.S. history classrooms.
