The purpose of this session is to provide elementary educators with advice and support for integrating reading and writing of informational texts into their inquiry- based social studies instruction in purposeful, effective, and powerful ways. Through attendance at this session, participants will be able to (1) identify research-supported strategies for effectively embedding reading and writing of informational texts during inquiry-based social studies instruction and (2) engage in outlining an inquiry-based unit in a safe and supportive environment for use in their own classroom
